Hiya -

I made our christmas pudding recently.

I make one each year - aside from the flavour, I love the ritual; the fragrant spices and the invitation to take it slow - it takes a while to make as you soak the dried fruit overnight. I've made a half size one to ensure it all gets eaten!

Are you feeling festive?

I really hope so.

Many of us though - not so much.

The cost of living, the workload, winter bugs - lots of stuff has piled up for for some, leaving us feeling not-quite-so-merry.

We know that Christmas can be a pressured time for many, at the best of times.

If we pause, it can help to ask - what is Christmas really about? How does the festive season feel to those of us who don't celebrate Christmas?

For me, the festive season is really about connection.

With each other, to share kindness and warmth.

And we can do that in simple ways.

It doesn't take much.

A 5 minute chat, sharing a drink, a walk. Volunteering. Donating. Getting together.

At work, it can be as simple as popping your head round the door to say 'Hi' to a colleague as you walk by.

With this in mind, we've decided to give to charity instead of some gifts - our secret santa donates to to our chosen charity as our gift.

Simpler and kinder. It kinda feels right for us this year.
